Location - 1st Austrian Calculus of Variations Day


The whole event will take place at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna.

The department is located in
Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1
, 1090 Vienna (map).

  • On Thursday, October 17th, all the talks will take place in the
    room BZ in the second floor
    .
  • On Friday, October 18th, all the talks will take place in the
    room HS 10 in the second floor
    .



The closest public transport stops to the Faculty of Mathematics are:

  • the stop
    Schlickgasse
    of the tram line D; from there you have to walk for 2-3 minutes to reach the department;
  • the stop
    Schottenring
    of the metro line U2 (purple line) and of the metro line U4 (green line); from there you have to walk for 5-8 minutes to get to the department;
  • the stop
    Roßauer Lände
    of the metro line U4 (green line); from there you have to walk for 2-3 minutes to reach the department.



If you come directly from the airport to the department
you can reach Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1 as follows:

  • first take either the fast train (CAT, timetable) or the regional train S7 (timetable) until the stop
    Wien Mitte - Landstraße
    ,
  • then take the metro line U4 (green line) in direction nord ("Heiligenstadt"), get out at the station
    Roßauer Lände
    , and then walk for 2-3 minutes.
Alternatively, you could take a taxi from the taxi stop located outside the metro stop of
Wien Mitte - Landstraße
mentioned above.



If you come directly by train to Vienna,
you will normally arrive at the central station (Hauptbahnhof). From there, you can:

  • either take a taxi;
  • or take the tram line D in direction "Nußdorf" until the stop
    Schlickgasse
    ;
  • or take the metro line U1 (red line) in the direction of "Leopoldau" until the stop
    Schwedenplatz
    . From there:
    • either take a taxi;
    • or take the metro line U4 (green line) in the direction of "Heiligenstadt" until the stop
      Roßauer Lände
      ; from there walk 2-3 minutes.
(The first and the third options are normally faster; the second one gives you the opportunity of seeing part of the city center, passing by the Parliament and the Town Hall).
