November 18th, 2022 from 09:00 to 12:45

The 2nd Austrian Calculus of Variations Day (ACVD) will be held at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salzburg
from Thursday, November 17th, 2022 at 13:00 to Friday, November 18th, 2022 at 12:45
.

The Austrian Calculus of Variations Day, already at its second edition, is an informal workshop, aiming at giving an overview on current research on calculus of variations and optimization in Austria. Participants from all Austrian Universities are welcome to present recent and new results, even not yet published. A few, but strict, rules apply, distinguishing this workshop from existing events in the field, namely:
  • Speakers at ACVD are volunteers from the audience. Provided that they are present throughout the meeting, all participants are invited to talk.
  • Based on the number of speakers, the time available will be divided into slots for the talks, all of the same length. The order of the speakers will be determined through random choice, by drawing names out of a hat. Speakers cannot request a specific time to talk.
  • Bring your presentation as a pdf-file on a USB-stick.
That will make life/technical support much more relaxed and easier during the conference. Please be aware of the fact that
the meeting room has no blackboard
    .
  • Each speaker should introduce themselves, as well as the title and topic, and is expected to leave sufficient time, within the allocated time-slot, for discussion. Speakers have to prepare a talk that can be trimmed to various lengths (from seconds to 20 minutes). For a smooth meeting, the timetable will be strictly enforced.
